First Position

First Position - Prescott Lane I really enjoyed this book. The characters are great and the story is pretty damn unique for a contemporary NA romance. This story follows Emory, ballerina, and Mason, football star, on their journey back to each other. I love stories like this - second chance love story - so I was completely in love with this book from only reading the blurb. I had high hopes for this debut from Prescott Lane, and I was not disappointed. The characters this author introduces you to are well written and very related-able. They seem like real people and they have drama like regular people... well probably more than most, but that's what makes it such a good story. I loved that Em is a smartass and is strong and loyal. You can see how much she's grown through the flashbacks that are in the story. I loved the writing - it is funny and witty and completely engaging. Mason is a sweetheart. A smart guy who has made mistakes and is trying to set them right and get his life back together. Wesley - well I just loved him - he is such a good friend to Em and has a great secondary story line as well! I really liked the different POVs this book was in, however I will note that these switching POVs need a header or some kind of que when they change. I figured out really fast who was talking with each switch, but a header or que would have made it much easier and more enjoyable throughout the book. I read an ARC (from Author's Taproom) of this book and the issue I had with the book may have been corrected before publishing.

I think anyone who likes contemporary romance will really enjoy this story. It is a great debut piece and I look forward to reading more from Prescott Lane!
